POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.–Hudson Valley Credit Union has closed two of its branches after an employee at each facility tested positive for COVID-19.
The two branches closed are its Carmel, N.Y. office and its Pleasant Valley branch.
In a statement on its website, Hudson Valley said on March 25, an employee at the Carmel branch experienced symptoms related to the COVID-19 and was then was quarantined. On March 30, this individual tested positive for the virus, the credit union said on its website.
The credit union further said on March 26, an employee at its Pleasant Valley Branch was placed on a precautionary quarantine, and the credit union was notified on April 4 that the individual had also tested positive for COVID-19.
“This employee is now receiving medical attention and will continue to be quarantined,” Hudson Valley CU said.
HVCU said it has been working with the state Department of Health on guidance and out of an “ abundance of caution” had closed the branches.
The credit union said it has reached out to members who conducted any transaction at the Pleasant Valley branch between March 21 and April 4, as well as to members who went to the Carmel branch on or after March 11, to notify them and encourage them to seek medical guidance.
It said it plans to regularly disinfect its ATMs.
Plans to Reopen
Hudson Valley CU reported it will reopen the Carmel branch on April 14 and the Pleasant Valley branch on April 20. It continues to accept appointments for limited lobby services will be available at branches in Mahopac Fishkill, Poughkeepsie, Montgomery and Kingston, New York, the credit union said.
"The health and safety of our members and employees remains our top priority," Hudson Valley Credit Union said on its website. "These are very difficult times and we’re grateful to the many healthcare workers who are tending to our staff as well as our entire community. We are taking every precaution to continue serving you at this time, and we greatly appreciate your understanding and patience with us."
The $5.3-billion Hudson Valley Credit Union has approximately 303,000 members.
