HAVRE, Mont.–A former employee of Bear Paw Credit Union here has been charged with stealing nearly $130,000 from the credit unions.
Authorities have charged Peggy Teel with one felony count of Theft by Embezzlement, alleging she stole money out of cash drawers and ATMs from January of 2007 through February of 2016.
Local media reported that a vice president at the credit union had first reported his suspicions that someone was stealing earlier this year. Up to that point, he told police the belief was the money was missing due to problems with three ATM machines. Once the ATMs were replaced, an additional investigation was begun and police said Teel confessed after being interviewed by police. Her arraignment is scheduled for August 15th.
