BOULDER, Colo.–Elevations Credit Union has announced it will match up to $250,000 funds raised as part of its foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. Separately, one CU vendor is offering 10,000 free seat licenses for CUs to meet with members via video.
In Colorado, donations made to the Elevations Foundation by April 3 will be matched, with the funds then going to those front range communities that are being directly impacted by the coronavirus, the credit union said.
“We believe in giving back to the people and places we serve,” said Dennis Paul, VP-community affairs. “Our members, employees and local community are all feeling the impacts of COVID-19. We want to provide an easy and effective way to help our neighbors during this time.”
The credit union said its foundation will work to maximize the effect of donations by partnering with local organizations that can deliver funds and support to first responders and their families, and those directly impacted by COVID-19. These donations will go to organizations like local hospital foundations, agencies providing emergency childcare and organizations that can channel funds to directly impacted individuals and families in the community, Elevations said.
“When tragedy hits, we turn to our community to donate to relief efforts in times of need. Together, we can put $500,000 to work in our community’s fight against the COVID-19 crisis,” said Elevations Foundation's Executive Director Phil Ferrante-Roseberry. “We are currently building a network of partners in our service area along Colorado’s Front Range. This includes community foundations, social service providers and emergency assistance organizations. It is our mission to make sure we are assisting those who need our support most.”
Free Video Seats
Separately, Salt Lake City-based POPio Mobile Video Cloud, which offers an interactive video banking solution, said it has allocated 10,000 free video seat licenses for the next 60 days to help financial institutions and consumers stay safe and connected via web-based video collaboration, and maintain critical access to financial services.
“As banks and credit unions across the country are tasked with providing branch services without jeopardizing the safety of their staff or customers, POPio is uniquely positioned to address this challenge and is eager to help with our proprietary mobile and web video platform,” said POPio founder and CEO Gene Pranger in a statement. “Our team is ready to enable live web video solutions at no cost and within a week to support financial institutions as they serve their customers and maintain business continuity through this time of crisis.”
According to the company, the free video seat licenses are available to any financial institution in need of a safe method for providing branch services while protecting staff and consumers from possible contagions. “While branches close their doors and consumers fear visiting public facilities, POPio can be accessed entirely via the web simply by clicking on a link,” the company explained. “Initiating live, face-to-face video chat equipped with real-time digital collaboration, consumers can then interact with staff to securely share financial documents, including photo IDs, review and sign forms for authorizing new accounts and loans, and address other urgent financial needs.
