Edwards FCU’s New Flagship Branch Includes Fresh Design, Community Room, One-of-a-Kind Mural

PALMDALE, Calif.–Edwards FCU has opened a new flagship branch that includes a feature unique in its market—a one-of-a-kind mural that celebrates the history of the Antelope Valley.

The new, state-of-the-art facility allows members to conduct transactional business at any one of the six stations in three separate “pods” in the lobby. New accounts or other business needing more direct service have access to multiple Relationship Advisor Offices connected to the main lobby.

“When our board of  directors green-lighted the project and we commissioned the design of the building, we knew we wanted something way beyond a cookie cutter branch and I’m hearing we exceeded that goal,” said Roy MacKinnon, president/CEO. “More than $4 million was spent with local contractors and trade workers during the project. We were committed to putting people to work in the Antelope Valley.”

The credit union worked with the design/build firm Level 5.

‘Unique’ Features

The first floor of the new office has two “very unique” features, including a dedicated community room and, in a first for any financial institution in the Valley, a mural that celebrates the history, people and beauty of the Antelope Valley.

“We are very excited about sharing the mural with everyone in the Valley and we are already making plans to work with local schools to bring students into the building for a tour of our facility, to learn about personal finance and of course, to see the mural,” said MacKinnon.

Created by Joe Sacco of the Sacco Group, which produced all of the interior marketing and branding for the credit union the Celebrating Antelope Valley mural “must be seen in person to appreciate its scope and creativity,” according to the credit union.

The Muroc Room

Paying tribute to the credit union’s heritage and founding in 1962 on the Edwards Air Force Base, the community room was aptly named the Muroc Room (visitors can learn the story behind the name Muroc from the mural). The Muroc Room will be available to groups for meetings, seminars and other community activities.

“With full audio video capabilities including overhead projection to an 80-inch drop down screen, we believe this room will be very popular for community events” said Chairman Ronald Guyadeen.
