Eagles' Super Bowl Victory Means Clam Chowder on Way to Pennsylvania CU Assn

HARRISBURG, Penn.–The Super Bowl has made it official and entered it into the record books: the Cooperative Credit Union Association will be sending clam chowder to the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.

The Cooperative CU Association, which represents credit unions in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and, ironically, Delaware, which is really Philadelphia Eagles country, had bet the clam chowder against Philadelphia cheese steaks from the Pennsylvania CU Association based on the outcome of the Super Bowl match between the New England Patriots and the Eagles.

With the game won 41-33 by the Eagles, staff at the PCUA will soon be chowdering down.

The Eagles had not made an appearance in the Super Bowl since 2004, and had never won the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the Patriots had won five Super Bowls since 2002, and were the defending champions.

Several credit unions staged promotions around the Super Bowl, including a pep rally by American Heritage Credit Union that is worth a watch here and commercials aired during the game by Desert Financial CU, the Golden 1 and others.
