Reyes had served as vice president and chief operations officer since February 2015, when he joined the ELCA to lead the development and launch of credit union operations.

“Under his direction, the credit union has earned the highest regulatory ranking available from the National Credit Union Administration, focusing on member convenience with full-service online and mobile banking options and expanding its product portfolio by offering ministry accounts and loans,” the credit union said.

Prior to joining the ELCA Federal Credit Union, Reyes had been chief operations officer at First Financial Credit Union in Skokie, Ill. In that role, he directed all operations of the credit union, including member services, lending, marketing, business development and information technology. Reyes initially joined First Financial in 1993.

Reyes was named CEO to succeed Rev. Arnold O. Pierson, who had been president since the credit union opened in June 2016.

ELCA Federal Credit Union provides consumer loans, deposit accounts, and other financial products and services to the rostered leaders, lay members, congregations, ministries and employees of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
