Down For 2 Weeks, Site Now Back Up

1st Advantage temporary landing page

YORKTOWN, Va.—1st Advantage FCU’s website was back up Thursday after being down for a little over two weeks.

While the site has been down, however, access to the credit union’s home banking service remained live after 1st Advantage constructed a temporary landing page with links to website areas members use most—such as home banking and lending.

COO Jamie Asciolla said the website began experiencing problems just over two weeks ago.

“It encountered some technical issues and was not performing properly, so we decided to take it down,” he said. “Then we ran into some resource issues with getting it back up.”

Asciolla said two IT staff members caught the flu, and then the Thanksgiving holiday made it difficult to obtain support from a third-party service provider.

“Then we had to go through the normal due diligence to bring the site back up—make sure everything is fully functional and that all the links work. That took some time.”

The current website configuration is several years old, said Asciolla, who explained the $607-million 1st Advantage plans to roll out a new website sometime next year. The new site will not only provide members with access to more information and services, it will also be tailored to the needs of the mobile user.
