Desert Schools FCU Converts Core

PHOENIX—The $3.8-billion Desert Schools FCU here has gone live with the Keystone core processing system from Corelation, one of the industry’s largest core conversions of 2015. The credit union has 309,840 members.

Desert School’s Executive Vice President Ron Amstutz said the move from the credit union’s previous core’s batch system to Corelation’s KeyStone real-time system will vastly enhance the efficiency of Desert School’s operations and member service.

“KeyStone is a much better technology, which will allow us to provide more advanced services for our members,” Amstutz said.

According to the company, some of those advanced services include reducing account opening process from 45 to five minutes, debit card swipe for automatic account retrieval, e-mailing transaction receipts for the CU’s goal of becoming paperless, and support for more online and mobile banking projects.

“Our goal is to create a much better member experience no matter what channel they are using to manage their funds – along with making our employees’ jobs easier with the efficiency of this system,” says Desert Schools CEO Susan Frank. “That said, we’re really excited about this new opportunity for our credit union. We believe it will greatly improve the overall experience for our members and employees.”

The conversion is the biggest to date for Corelation, according to its president, Theresa Benavidez.

To date, Corelation has signed 38 credit unions with 25 live on KeyStone.
