LOS ALAMOS, N.M.—Del Norte Credit Union here is inviting members of its community to help it attempt to break a world record on June 9.
At 12:00 p.m. MST, in conjunction with the Los Alamos Chamber Fest, it plans to gather as many people as it can at the corner of 15th and Central to break the world for the number of people simultaneously yelling “Where Discoveries are Made” at once.
Each person who joins the effort will receive a complimentary megaphone for the attempt. To break the record, Del Norte needs at least 1,000 people in attendance. This is the first year DNCU has attempted to break a world record.
“We decided to make this world record attempt as accessible as possible. We want to get the community of Los Alamos together in one place, at one time, and work together to achieve recognition across the region and state,” said Chuck Valenti, CEO/ president at Del Norte Credit Union. “It is very exciting to work together with the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos County to achieve something that has never been done before.”
The “Discoveries” brand, launched by the county and community partners, is designed to strengthen the community experience and attract more businesses, talent and visitors to Los Alamos, according to the credit union. The tagline, Where Discoveries are Made “truly captures the essence that Los Alamos cultivates curiosity and creates aha moments. Discoveries are made daily, today, and historically in their past.”
