Del Norte CU Launches ‘Forward Together’ Promotion During the Holidays

SANTA FE, N.M.–Del Norte Credit Union has launched its giving season with “Forward Together,” which it is describing as an innovative program to help curb hunger in some of New Mexico’s most rural areas.

The credit union is donating funds for every new checking account, auto loan, or home loan members open directly to The Food Depot—a northern New Mexico food bank.

The campaign to raise funds began Nov. 23 and will run through the end of the year.

“The goal is to raise as much money as possible to help some of the most rural areas in the state get the essential meals they need to survive during a pandemic,” Del Norte CU said. “According to The Food Depot’s website, The Food Depot ‘help[s] people of all ages with differing needs—those living in remote villages as well as in our largest cities and towns.’”

According to Del Norte:

  • New Checking Accounts will generate $5 or 20 meals.
  • New Auto Loans funded will generate $10 or 40 meals.
  • New Home Loans closed will generate $15 or 60 meals.

“This is another way we connect our mission of Improving Lives to the products and services we offer our membership—and now more than ever we wanted to highlight that,” says Chuck Valenti, CEO/president of DNCU. “With the Forward Together program, our future and current members can see how the cooperative spirit of not-for-profit financial institutions works to better our communities and support the greater good of all that live here.”
