Defense Council Shares a Reminder on How to Honor Fallen Servicemembers This Memorial Day

WASHINGTON, DC - The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) is reminding Americans to take a moment and reflect upon the meaning of Memorial Day this weekend.

Anthony Hernandez

“A simple way we can honor our fallen servicemembers is by including our children and grandchildren in the tradition of flag detail,” said DCUC President/CEO Anthony Hernandez. “On the morning of Memorial Day, quickly raise the American Flag to the top of the flagpole, then slowly lower it to half-mast. This is to honor the fallen servicemembers who died for our country over the years. At noon, raise the flag to full height to symbolize the resolve of those still living to continue fighting for our freedoms. Through this tradition, we can demonstrate our gratitude while also encouraging others’ understanding of why this holiday is recognized every year.”

The DCUC said it is welcoming all to view and share its  "Honor and Remember" video.
