WASHINGTON–The Defense Credit Union Council said it is partnering with the Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) to create national and local awareness of the importance of military spouse mentorship, empowerment, education and support.
DCUC, which has become a Diamond Partner with MSAN, said the goal is to address challenges “rooted in developing strong military spouses lies largely in the ability to fill unnoticed gaps that prevent military spouses and their families from receiving the support they need and deserve.”
DCUC will now support MSAN’s Advocates Mentors as they work to provide peer-to-peer mentorship, trainings, educational videos, classes, toolkits, webinars, blogs, newsletters and virtual events, according to the organizations.
The effort will kick off with a co-branded Blended Retirement System Guide that will be shared with all new program participants, the Defense Council reported.
‘Importance Cannot Be Overstated’
“The importance of the military spouse in the defense community cannot be overstated—particularly when it comes to family finances and community programs. Defense credit unions are 'all in' with respect to these issues,” said Col. (R) Anthony Hernandez, president and CEO at DCUC.
Added Verenice Castillo, founder and president at MSAN, “We are honored and excited to welcome DCUC as our new Diamond partner. We both share the same passion and dedication to support new military spouses and make sure they receive the mentorship, empowerment, support and education they deserve from day one.”
