Dees takes over for Christine Dawe, who served as interim CEO since November 2023. Dawe stepped in for Mike Athens, who left Rio Grande CU late last year.

Dees has worked C-suite positions at Kirtland Federal Credit Union and Sandia Area Federal Credit Union, Albuquerque Business First said.

AVP of marketing David Miles told Albuquerque Business First the organization is "excited about the direction [Dees] is taking the credit union. He is a very experienced credit union executive. He knows the market. He's familiar with the people that we serve in Albuquerque."
