ADRIAN, Mich.–David Chambers, the only president Lenco Credit Union here has had in its 40-year history and its first paid employee, was honored for his career as he prepares to retire Dec. 31.
During his career Chambers oversaw growth from $625,000 to $72 million in assets.
Chambers was hired by the credit union on Nov. 1, 1975 when the CU served county and educational employees, before expanding its FOM to anyone who lives and works in Lenawee County, Mich.
At a retirement ceremony here, Chambers was honored by past and current employees, a state representative, a county commissioner and others.
Lenawee County Probate Court Judge Gregg Iddings recognized Chambers for his support of the county’s family court juvenile division, especially in the area of adoption assistance. Iddings thanked Chambers and the credit union for providing $100 to each adopted child during the past several years — more than 200 in all — to open a savings account as they start their lives with a new family.
Executive Vice President Ben Neal has been named to succeed Chambers as CEO.
