DNA Helps ‘Unmask’ Suspect In $700K Armored Car Robbery

LAS VEGAS–Using DNA on a mask that he allegedly dropped, a man has been arrested here and charged in a robbery of an armored car in which $694,000 was stolen outside a credit union.

Clinton Morgan, 29, allegedly was the robber who on April 20 approached two security guards who were outside a branch of One Nevada Credit Union and were preparing to spend the day replenishing ATMs with cash and told them to “Give me the money.” The security guards surrendered half the $1.3 million in the van during the robbery.

Police said that two robbers were involved in the crime; the other robber has not been identified.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that DNA found on a surgical mask that was allegedly dropped at the scene was used to identify Morgan, who has a criminal history in California and Nevada. Police said four guns and more than $110,000 in cash were found when police searched Morgan’s home.

Morgan has been charged on six counts, with bail set at $250,000.
