NEEDHAM, Mass.–Direct Federal Credit Union has launched “Direct University,” a continuing education program for its employees.
According to the credit union, Direct University is designed to educate employees on the strategic focus of the credit union.
“It provides continuous professional development opportunities and engages employees at all levels,” Direct Federal said. “Direct University is designed to mirror a collegiate university structure and the areas of study available to employees are the six strategic areas of the credit union’s strategic plan: People, Continuous Improvement, Financial Management, Access and Delivery, Service, and Growth.”
Direct Federal said “Associates,” “bachelors,” “masters,” and “PhD” programs are available and the degrees will become a part of consideration in career development.
“Direct University takes a blended learning approach that includes instructor led classroom training, online training, movies, required reading, exams, and practicums,” Direct Federal said. “All employees are required to take part in the University and will be required to complete the ‘associates’ level degree. It is anticipated, by the end of its inaugural year, all employees will have completed at least 40 hours of Direct University courses/coursework.”
The program is led and managed by Erin Proulx, training and development manager at Direct Federal Credit Union.
“At Direct Federal our employees are our priority,” said Joe Walsh, president and CEO of the $632-million Direct Federal. “Direct University will be vital in creating an industry-leading career development program that will allow our employees to define their own career paths and a culture that empowers employees to continually build knowledge.”
