HONOLULU—Gordon Sam, chairman of Pearl Hawaii FCU, has been named to the Defense Credit Union Council’s Hall of Honor.
The Hall of Honor was established in 2000 as a means of acknowledging exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions in the credit union community. The DCUC said the coveted award highlights the outstanding accomplishments of leaders whose efforts support the credit union movement and DCUC’s philosophy of "Serving Those Who Serve Our Country.”
“Receiving this distinction and being recognized among my peers is truly an honor and privilege. I am grateful to be part of great teams with Pearl Hawaii Federal Credit Union and the Hawaii Credit Union League,” stated Sam, who also serves on the Hawaii league board.
Sam will be presented the award during DCUC’s 53rd Annual Conference, which will be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.
Meanwhile, Elevations Credit Union President and CEO Gerry Agnes has been named the 2016 Credit Union Professional of the Year by the Mountain West Credit Union Association, which represents credit unions in Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming. This award recognizes one credit union professional each year for efforts to continue building a cooperative environment for credit unions to grow and prosper.
Agnes was also named Business Person of the Year by the Boulder Chamber earlier in 2016. Agnes was instrumental to Elevations’ achievement of the 2014 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, as well as the organization’s placement in 2015 as a Best Company to Work for in Colorado by the Colorado Society for Human Resource Management.
