COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–With military or military-related families living in every zip code in the United States, the Defense Credit Union Council is reminding it offers a number of educational resources for those families.
During its annual meeting here, DCUC President and CEO Anthony Hernandez said the organization’s vision goes beyond just military credit unions themselves, as it has the “ability to speak military to all credit unions.” He said it’s highly likely every credit union in the country has a member who is in the military as part of their membership.
The Defense Council offers publications, events, materials and resources to any credit union as part of its associate membership, Hernandez said, adding it offers the assistance in support of its motto, “Serving those who serve others.”
“We’re looking to better educate all credit unions, whether on or off installation, on how to better connect with and serve their military and veteran communities,” said Hernandez. “While we will always remain heavily supportive of our member credit unions operating on installations…the fact is DCUC is uniquely positioned to assist and help the rest of the industry.”
As for military credit unions themselves, Hernandez added, “It's one thing to love what you do, but to know that the work you're doing day in and day out is making a real difference in the lives of others, that's the reward we all get.”
