HANSCOM AFB, Mass.–Hanscom FCU is absorbing the $6.4-million Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Employees FCU via merger.
HMHFCU served employees of Houghton Mifflin, a Boston book publisher best known for children’s books such as Curious George and The Little Prince.
While the effective date of the merger is July 1, 2015, HMHEFCU will continue to operate as a separate entity until integration of the systems is completed on October 1, the credit union said. The former credit union’s office in Wilmington, Mass. will remain open until Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s planned closure of its operations at that location.
HMH FCU had more than 1,000 members. It’s three employees will join Hansom FCU, which has $1.1-billion in assets and 58,490 members.
