CrossState Foundation Announces New Vizo Financial Empowerment Grant

HARRISBURG, Penn.–The CrossState Credit Union Foundation has released its newest grant, the Vizo Financial Empowerment Grant, in collaboration with Vizo Financial Corporate CU.

The foundation said the $50,000 grant program focuses on providing funds to credit unions that are helping others achieve their financial goals and is available to any credit union or chapter in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the two states served by the CrossState Credit Union Association.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Vizo Financial to offer additional funds for our credit union network,” Sue Ward-Diorio, executive director of the CrossState Foundation, said in a statement. “These grants will assist our credit unions in reaching current and prospective members to help them make wise financial decisions that will lead them towards their dreams. We hope the Empowerment Grant will create programs that will truly empower those who need assistance in our communities.”

According to the foundation, the grant is one of many programs developed through Vizo Financial’s pledge to provide $1 million to credit union foundations so that they can help credit unions build financial literacy programs that empower their members and their communities.

Belief in Decisions

“Financial literacy is about more than just making members aware of the tools and strategies to help them reach their financial goals – it’s about empowering them to believe in their financial decisions and know that they can achieve financial freedom on their terms,” Vizo Financial President and CEO David Brehmer said in a statement. “This is an initiative that already exists within the credit union movement, but we at Vizo Financial are dedicated to making this idea of financial empowerment more accessible for all, which is why we’ve created the Empowerment Grants Program. Through these grants, credit unions can devote more resources to prioritizing financial literacy and empower their communities on a journey to financial soundness. We’re excited to welcome CrossState CU Foundation as part of the program and look forward to working with them to further financial literacy efforts among their credit unions.”

The Deadline

The foundation said applications can be submitted at any time before July 31, 2024, and the request cannot exceed $5,000. The organization added that questions about the grant can be forwarded to Sue Ward-Diorio.
