WASHINGTON–The CrossState Credit Union Association and the Cooperative Credit Union Association are reporting they established a virtual live video feed during which credit union professionals hiking Capitol Hill were able to conduct interviews and recordings with members of the media and to share with credit union leaders who were unable to participate in person.
The CrossState CU Association represents credit unions in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, while the Cooperative CU Association represents CUs in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Delaware.
According to the associations, throughout the first day of Hike the Hill, CrossState President and CEO Patrick Conway was able to be interviewed by members of the press directly from Credit Union House with the “beautiful capitol dome in the background.”
In additions, the associations said credit union leaders and presenters also talked about issues important to them, as well as about the activities of Hike the Hill for those who were unable to attend.
Numerous Interviews
During the event, CrossState interviewed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra, Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA), U.S. House Financial Services Committee Member, and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ), who is the House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman.
In addition, many credit union leaders related their experience at Hike the Hill to others in the credit union movement back home in their respective states, the associations said.
“Tapping live video streaming technology during a Hike the Hill event in Washington, D.C., was a great opportunity for credit unions to get their message out to members of the press, credit union leaders from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and members of the general public,” said Michael Wishnow, CrossState SVP-marketing and communications. “We want to thank the Cooperative Credit Union Association for their assistance in making a new concept become a reality. Having the ability to connect directly with the news media on both a local and national level while also documenting the work of credit union leaders during Hike the Hill is an innovative and effective way to promote credit unions and their unique mission.”
The associations said select video clips from these interviews can be found here.
