Crooks Steal Gospel Station Van, Attempt To Break Open CU’s ATM

EVADALE, Texas—Police are searching for suspects who stole a van owned by a local southern gospel radio station and used it during an attempt to steal money from an Eastex FCU ATM, 12News Now reported.

A "KGHY 88.5 FM The Gospel Hiway" radio station van was stolen while it was parked at the 1st Baptist Church in Silsbee, Texas. The two men used the van while trying to burglarize the credit union's ATM early Wednesday morning. Jasper County deputies were sent to the Eastex FCU branch located in Evadale after receiving an initial call about a theft, 12News Now said.

When police arrived, they discovered the ATM had been damaged. Surveillance footage revealed that around 3 a.m., two men driving the white KGHY 88.5 FM van, which was reported stolen out of Silsbee, arrived at the ATM. The suspects were wearing black clothing with gloves and masks, according to the sheriff's office, 12News Now said.

They used a large crowbar to pry open the ATM, causing severe damage that rendered the ATM out of service. After several unsuccessful attempts to access the ATM’s cash, the suspects left travelling towards Vidor, Texas, in the stolen van, according to a release from the sheriff's office, 12News Now said.
