Crooks Rip ATM From Wall; CEO Says ‘It Wasn’t Worth Their Time’

CARSTAIRS, Alberta, Canada—Crooks ripped an ATM out of a branch of Mountain View Credit Union here, getting away with the machine and emptying its contents.

Local police stated the CU’s surveillance cameras showed crooks wearing masks and gloves pulling the ATM out of the wall of the CU with a truck and then loading it onto a trailer. The empty ATM was eventually found abandoned along with the trailer and the truck, which were also stolen.

Stephen Brosinsky, vice-president of operations at Mountain View, told the Carstairs Courier that the thieves did not gain access to the credit union and that the CU remained open for regular business hours. The ATM was stolen early in the morning.

“I can’t disclose the amount of cash that was taken in the ATM machine, but it certainly wasn’t worth their time,” Brosinsky told the publication.

Police told the Courier that similar incidents have been occurring throughout Southern Alberta over the last few months.
