ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man who had been on the run for more than six years for robbing a credit union finally appeared in U.S. District Court and pleaded guilty to the crime, Fox2Now reported.
Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said FBI agents located and arrested Daniel Harris, 66, in Phoenix.
Harris robbed the St. Louis Community Credit Union in the 4400 block of Chippewa Street on March 15, 2017. He was indicted on Oct. 11, 2017, Fox2Now said.
Harris admitted to approaching a teller and placing a demand note on the counter. Harris left the credit union with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. Investigators said Harris disposed of the baseball cap and two jackets he wore into the credit union a short distance from the building. Authorities found a receipt in one of the jacket pockets with Harris’ name on it. A family member and a former employer confirmed Harris’ identity from security camera images from the credit union, Fox2Now said.
Harris pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine when he’s sentenced on March 4, 2025, Fox2Now said.
