Credit Unions in Louisiana, Florida Announce FOM Expansions

BATON ROUGE, La.–Saying it is seeking to be true to its mission of “changing lives one dream at a time,” BRECO FCU has expanded its FOM to include a new underserved area.

The goal, BRECO FCU said, is to open its doors to more potential members in the hopes of providing access to more affordable bank accounts, expanding wealth through financial literacy programs and counseling, and offering a “multitude of loan options for those who need it most.”

BRECO’s FOM now includes anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school in, and businesses located in parts of Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes in Louisiana.

The underserved area increases the $52 million BRECO FCU’s potential field of membership by over 400,000 potential members.

“There are so many with limited access to financial services,” said Joshua Poole, president/CEO of BRECO FCU.  “We are thrilled for the opportunity to build lifelong relationships as we focus on the financial success of the people and communities we serve.”

BRECO FCU enlisted the help of Allen Carver & Associates to assist with the underserved addition to its field.

The credit union has approximately 5,000 members.

Florida Expansion

Separately, in Florida, Ocala Community Credit Union said it has been approved by the state regulator to expand its field of membership to all of Marion County in the North Central part of the state.
