SALT LAKE CITY–Credit Unions for Kids has named an employee of a Texas Credit Union as the winner of a pledge challenge, allowing her to name the recipient of a $10,000 donation to a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. The funds were provided by CO-OP Financial Services.
Selected to make the donation was Delilah, a recapture loan officer with Neches FCU.
Earlier this year in June, Credit Unions for Kids hosted a 25 Year Anniversary Virtual Event to celebrate the more than $150 million raised by credit unions for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. During the event, CUs for Kids offered a challenge: sign a pledge to commit to the continued support of CU4Kids and have a chance to donate $10,000 to a local CMN Hospital.
“Earlier this year, I was blessed with twins. My babies came almost five weeks early and because of their early arrival, they spent some time in the NICU at our local CMN Hospital, Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital,” Delilah said. “The NICU at Christus St. Elizabeth was amazing. I felt at ease knowing that my babies were in such good hands while being cared for. Fast forward to six months later and my babies are happy, healthy and full of life.
‘Near and Dear’
Added Jason Landry, president and CEO at Neches FCU, “Children’s Miracle Network/Credit Unions for Kids is near and dear to the hearts of Neches employees as it is our primary nonprofit collaboration. We are honored to have been selected as the recipient of this generous donation to our local CMN Hospital, Christus St. Elizabeth, and we are so proud of our employees for their commitment to supporting Credit Unions for Kids.”
CU4Kids said the process to choose the winner at random was by using an online random number generator and comparing the random number against an Excel spreadsheet with rows of each commitment pledge submission. The random number generated was 309, correlating to Delilah’s row.
‘Proud of Relationship’
“Congratulations to Delilah, Neches FCU, and Christus St. Elizabeth,” said Nick Coleman, director of Strategic Partners at CMN Hospitals. “Thank you to everyone that signed the pledge to Commit to CU4Kids; and thank you to CO-OP Financial Services for sponsoring the challenge. We are so proud of the relationship our organization has with one of the most generous industries that exist and look forward to continue working together to Change Kids Health, to Change the Future.”
