WASHINGTON–Most of the attention in Congress this week will be on reconciling the House and Senate versions of the tax reform bill, but there are several bills pending that have the attention of credit unions.
The House Financial Services Committee has 15 bills on its calendar for the week, including three that have the backing of credit unions, noted CUNA’s Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan:
- HR 1457, the Making Online Banking Initiation Legal and Easy (MOBILE) Act, which authorizes a financial institution, with an individual's consent, to record personal information from a swipe or copy of an individual's driver's license or personal identification card and store the information electronically for the purpose of verifying the authenticity of the driver's license or identification card, verifying the identity of the individual, or complying with legal requirements
- HR 4464, the Common Sense Credit Union Capital Relief Act, which would repeal NCUA’s rules on risk-based capital
- HR 4545, which would amend the FFIEC Act of 1978 to improve the examination of depository institutions
