WASHINGTON–As it marks its 10th anniversary, credit unions are being encouraged to sign up and participate in America Saves Week, Feb. 26-March 3.
Organized by America Saves and the American Savings Educational Council, the organization said the week is “an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.”
America Saves Week first took place in 2007.
“Research shows that customers and members are more satisfied with their financial institution when helped to save, and they use multiple products,” the organizations said, urging credit unions and banks to help consumers set up automatic deposit.
“America Saves Week is an opportunity for individuals to take financial action and save money for emergencies, retirement, and everything in between,” the organizations said. “America Saves recognizes the important role that credit unions play in helping families save money and build wealth. That’s why we are recognizing credit unions that go above and beyond to encourage people to save during the week with our Designation of Savings Excellence.”
