Credit Union’s Football Tie-In Gets A Penalty Flag From ESPN

KALAMAZOO, Mich.–Credit unions across the country have announced all manner of sports tie-ins, but one CU here found itself the subject of some negative attention on a national broadcast as the result of its sponsorship.

During an ESPN broadcast of its College Gameday program, it featured its popular “You Had One Job” segment (in which broadcasters highlight how someone or something screwed up a simple task).

Arbor FCU’s sponsorship of the kicking net behind the goalposts at Western Michigan University’s home games was featured. In this case, the Arbor FCU logo completely blocks the TV camera view of the point-after-touchdown (PAT) attempt.

"Arbor, whatever they are, is getting a lot of play. We're talking about them,” said ESPN’s David Pollack.
