ALBANY, N.Y.–The merger between the former SEFCU and CAP COM FCU that created Broadview FCU has led to a renaming of the former SEFCU Arena at the University of Albany, which is now known as Broadview Center.
In addition to the new name, the facility is undergoing more than $12 million in renovations and upgrades that are scheduled to be completed this fall, with the credit union saying the Broadview Center will provide the Capital Region with improved and immersive fan experiences and expanded community-based opportunities. The facility is also home to UA’s Great Danes athletic team, including men’s and women’s basketball, and also hosts community events that include meetings, lectures, concerts and youth sports.
“We are thrilled to have the Broadview name attached to UAlbany’s upgraded on-campus venue because it allows our organization to deepen its connection to the University and support the community at the same time,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “Broadview is proud to offer on-campus banking services and support UAlbany’s academic and athletic pursuits. Broadview Blue will look beautiful alongside Great Danes purple and gold.”
The $8-billion Broadview FCU has more than 500,000 members and 60 branches.
