Credit Union League of Connecticut Names Adams President/CEO

MERIDEN, Conn.--The Credit Union League of Connecticut has named Bruce Adams president/CEO.

Bruce Adams

Adams begins his new role on August 19, the league said. Adams takes over for Jill Nowacki, who recently left the league to formation Humanidei, a firm aimed at helping credit unions in the war for talent.

“Selected from a strong field of candidates, the board is excited that Bruce will be leading the next chapter of our success. He brings an impressive blend of legal, policy, and business experience which will be extremely valuable to furthering the credit union movement in Connecticut.” said Michael Hinchey, Board Chairman.

Adams is currently the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services. Prior to his current service, Adams was General Counsel to Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman where he provided legal, policy, and strategic counsel to the Lieutenant Governor and her staff. He also assisted the Lieutenant Governor in her role as President of the Connecticut State Senate.

Adams also served as General Counsel to the Connecticut Department of Banking. In that role he developed and executed agency policy and legislation, oversaw the agency’s enforcement activity, and supervised the Government Relations and Consumer Affairs unit.

"Adams has significant nonprofit experience. He has held multiple development positions at the University of Connecticut Foundation and currently serves on the board of the Henrietta B. and Frederick H. Bugher Foundation, which has provided over $40 million in donations for cardiovascular research," the league said.

“The Credit Union League of Connecticut provides its members—mission-driven, not-for-profit, local financial institutions—with both a deep portfolio of products and services as well as top-flight public advocacy,” said Adams. “I’m very grateful to the Board for allowing me the opportunity to leverage the collective strength of our credit unions and help them succeed in this challenging marketplace. We will work together to provide even greater value to our members by more closely aligning our vision with our product portfolio.”
