MUSKEGO, Wis.–Corporate Central Credit Union said it’s inviting all credit union executives to learn, share information, and network at its upcoming 2017 Economic Outlook Conference.
The meeting, to be held Oct. 12 at Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis., will offer credit union-specific economic insights related to fiscal policy, strategizing for success, smart risk management, and growth planning. The registration deadline is Oct. 5.
“Our flagship event takes place just in time for credit unions’ 2018 budget and planning preparations,” said Chris Felton, Corporate Central’s president/CEO. “We’re confident that attendees will bring back to their credit unions valuable information on the current and upcoming economic environment from this year’s diverse speaker lineup.”
The speakers include:
- Mike Schenk, VP of Research and Policy Analysis of CUNA, who will speak about the economy and credit union operations. Schenk is a returning conference favorite, highly-rated for bringing economic impacts down to the credit union level. His presentation will review the implications of economic growth, explore credit union responses, and discuss prospects for future success.
- Clare Zempel, CFA, CBE, Principal of Zempel Strategic, who will speak about economic and financial market prospects and risks over the next five years. Zempel will answer critical questions, such as how quickly the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates, when the next recession will hit, and how shifts in fiscal policy will affect different sectors. Appearing on CNBC and NPR, Zempel has been recognized as a leading economist and investment strategist by The New York Times Magazine and Business Week.
- Walt Schmidt, CFA, SVP and Manager of Mortgage Strategies Group, will cover the Federal Reserve’s economy and mortgage-backed security market. Schmidt will discuss the economy, yield curve and how it will affect the mortgage market.
- Elry Armaza, Impact Director and Analyst of Filene Research Institute, who will present on confidence in borrowing. Armaza will address ways to develop strategies that support consumers as they navigate how and when to borrow and invest.
Between speaker presentations, Corporate Central said it will also host networking opportunities including breakfast, lunch, and an ice cream social. More than 100 credit union professionals from around the country are expected to attend.
