HOUSTON—More than 200 Houston police officers participated in Houston Police FCU’s “Back the Blue Day,” a campaign dedicated to encouraging public support for law enforcement.
Houston Police FCU, which has served the Houston Police Department since 1937, said the event comes amidst tension in Houston and other major cities that has added to the day-to-day stress police officers deal with.
"We are proud to celebrate the brave police officers who don't think twice about risking their lives to protect and preserve our freedoms," said Ayn Talley, president of HPFCU. "Back the Blue Day is a small way to show our appreciation and thank Houston Police Officers for the job that they do, understanding that their dedication can take a toll on their lives and the lives of their families."
Dozens of vendors also donated door prizes to make the event successful.
