Cooperation In Washington? Yes, Sort of, As Inaugural Co-op Festival Is Scheduled

WASHINGTON–The National Cooperative Business Association said it will host an inaugural Co-op Festival on the Washington Mall Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Both CUNA and the National Credit Union Foundation have said they will participate.

The NCBA described the event as an unprecedented opportunity to amplify the economic impact, diversity and sustainability of a “business model 70% of consumers say they already trust.”
“Designed to kick off Co-op Month, this two-day public awareness event will feature live music, high-profile speakers, games, giveaways and interactive booths to engage thousands of people on the National Mall,” the NCBA said. “The event will also serve as a visual reminder of the success and diversity of the co-op business model to elected officials in the nation’s capital.”
Participating co-ops will have a booth space to tell their story and provide information and giveaways for the visiting public, according to the NCBA.

According to CUNA, it and the Foundation will have a tent at the event branded America’s Credit Unions that will be located on 12th St NW and will focus on financial education.

CUNA and the Foundation also said they will distribute T-shirts, money clips, the financial planning book Money Rules, money stress balls, water bottles, and 2017 International Credit Union Day flyers.
