Connecticut’s CUs Elect New League Board; Honor Individuals for Contributions

HARTFORD, Conn.–During its 85th Meeting & Vendor Expo, the Credit Union League of Connecticut recognized a number of individuals and also announced board election results.

During the meeting, themed “Create Your Fantastic Future,” attendees from 46 credit unions heard from a number of speakers and met with 47 different vendors.  

During the annual business meeting, members of the league re-elected directors Karen Viets of Metropolitan District Employees CU and Vincent Ciambriello of Sikorsky CU to the league board. Newly elected to the board was John Holt of Nutmeg State Financial CU.

Board officers selected were Michael Hinchey of Crosspoint FCU as chair, Ciambriello as vice chair, Gail Todd of Greenwich Municipal EFCU as secretary, and Andrew Klimkoski as treasurer.

Presented With Honors
Recognized for their contributions to credit unions were:

  • Octavia Gaines, lending manager with Hartford FCU, who was named 2019 Connecticut Credit Union Outstanding Professional
  • Jane Desrosiers, board president with Northeastern CT Healthcare CU, who was named 2019 Connecticut Credit Union Volunteer of the Year
  • Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT 4th District), was named the inaugural Legislator of the Year, recognizing his commitment to supporting credit unions and their member-constituents

Marketing Excellence awards recognized American Eagle Financial CU, Connex CU, GE CU, Greater Hartford Police FCU, Metropolitan District Employees CU, Northeast Family FCU, Nutmeg State Financial CU, and SoundView Financial CU for strategic results driven marketing.

Special recognition and thanks were given to Larry Holderman, president/CEO at Mutual Security CU for his more than 40 years of service to the credit union movement, and to Mark Cornacchio, president/CEO, First Bristol FCU, for his service on the league board and committees.
