SHREVEPORT, La.–Congressman-elect Luke Letlow, who died last week from complications of COVID-19, was one of the candidates who had received special support from the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and the Louisiana Credit Union League.
Letlow, a Republican, won a runoff election to represent Louisiana's fifth congressional district.
Letlow, 41, was set to be sworn in on Jan. 3. He had earlier won a special election in part with backing from credit unions. Letlow was elected to succeed Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA), for whom he had served as chief of staff.
Mr. Letlow is survived by his wife, Julia, and their two children, Jeremiah and Jacqueline.
In the one remaining election, the critical races for Georgia’s two Senate seats, CULAC and the League of Southeastern Credit Unions are backing the two Republican candidates in that special election, Kelly Loeffler and Sen. David Perdue.
