WASHINGTON—Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC), has raised concerns about the NCUA’s budget increases in a letter to the agency.
Mulvaney thanked NCUA Board Chairman Rick Metsger and Board Member Mark McWatters for holding a public hearing on the budget and attempting to improve the agency’s transparency. But he then added, “Despite this important progress, I continue to have concerns with NCUA’s persistent failure to control expenses as your budget continues to balloon – nearly doubling in the last decade,” Mulvaney wrote.
NAFCU reported that Mulvaney also asked for details on any post-settlement analysis to verify that the NCUA took the most efficient approach in pursuing its various legal cases.
As CUToday.info reported here, the agency has paid two law firms more than $1 billion as part of lawsuits related to corporate recoveries.
