Congress to Hold 2 Hearings on Oversight of Regulators, But NCUA Will Not be Among Them

WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate will hold hearings this week titled “Oversight of Prudential Regulators,” but NCUA will not be among those testifying, with NCUA Chairman Todd Harper announcing he is taking a leave of absence to deal with back surgery.

NCUA typically joins the other regulators at the semi-annual hearings.

On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee will hold its hearing with those scheduled to testify including Michael Barr, vice chairman for supervision with the Federal Reserve; Martin Gruenberg, chairman of the FDIC, and Michael Hsu, acting comptroller.

On Thursday, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs will hold a similar hearing with the same panel of witnesses.
