Congress Heads Home; CU Lobby Heads To Hill

Ryan Donovan, CUNA

WASHINGTON—Both the House and the Senate are in recess this week as part of the Easter/Spring break, and credit unions are now working on the Hill to push forward numerous pieces of legislation that were passed before Congress left town.

The House Financial Services Committee passed nine bills of interest to credit unions, all offering some aspect of regulatory relief, and the question now is whether that legislation will move forward as a package or as standalone bills.

“That has yet to be determined,” observed CUNA’s chief advocacy officer, Ryan Donovan. “We are encouraging the full House to pass the legislation and move it on over to the Senate.”
