WASHINGTON–Both the House and the Senate are in session this week.
According to CUNA’s chief advocacy officer, Ryan Donovan, among the issues before Congress of interest to credit unions is HR 1443, the LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act, and a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of the OCC’s “True Lender” rule. The latter was approved by the OCC in 2020, but if the resolution passes and President Biden signs it, the authorities would be rescinded.
Donovan said CUNA will also be watching several hearings and other activities this week, including:
Today
- Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee hearing on Treasury nominations.
Wednesday
- House Committee on Financial Services mark-up of bills that includes HR 3958, the Central Liquidity Enhance Act, which would make permanent some of the changes included in the CARES Act relative to NCUA’s CLF.
- Senate Appropriations Committee subcommittee hearing on “Fiscal Year 2022 Budge for the Department of the Treasury.”
Thursday
- Senate Banking Committee hearing “Examining Bipartisan Bills to Increase Access to Housing.”
