BROOKLYN, N.Y.–Access One ATM, an ATM service provider, said it is partnering with ATM manufacturer Genmega to provide charitable donations at the ATM through a new program called “Charity ATM.”
Processed as a separate transaction, the Charity ATM program will run completely free of charge on Genmega ATMs. No modifications to existing hardware is necessary; just a simple software upgrade, the company said.
“We are happy to be helping promote charitable donations at ATMs,” said George Sarantopoulos, Access One ATM CEO, in a statement. “Charity ATM is all about providing consumers with convenient access to make donations to charity, to benefit both community and help encourage commerce.”
The company noted that consumer charitable donations have seen a significant increase in the past few years – reaching over 72% of total contributions to charities, around $228.93 billion. A 2014 Nielsen survey, “Doing Well By Doing Good,” reported that 69% of Millennials want businesses to make it easier for consumers to get involved in societal issues.
Charity ATM will debut at the National ATM Council 2015 Conference & Expo Sept. 15-17 in Las Vegas, and will undergo active testing in New York City throughout September.
Charity ATM currently supports the National Children’s Cancer Society with plans to adopt more charity partners in the coming months, and expand into other cities and states later this year, the company said.
