LEXINGTON, Ky.—Commonwealth Credit Union is reporting it has made a “historic philanthropic donation” of $2 million to support the construction of Baptist Health Hamburg, which is set to open in the spring of 2024.
The donation is the largest received in Baptist Health Foundation Lexington’s history.
“We believe that health is the first step to wealth,” said CCU President and CEO Karen Harbin. “Our donation is a symbol of our commitment to bettering the lives of Kentuckians, and it’s one we know will have a lasting impact. Together, we’re making a difference – empowering the community through improved general health and financial wellness.”
According to the credit union, the expansion of Baptist Health will mean thousands of patients will receive more convenient care through expanded outpatient services for cancer, cardiovascular, breast imaging and diagnostics, emergency care, orthopedics, and surgery.
A ’Shared Vision’
Added CCU Chair Randy Fawns, “Baptist Health, like Commonwealth Credit Union, exists to serve, and we have a shared vision of unparalleled excellence. We’re thrilled to play a role in this pivotal moment in central Kentucky’s history.”
Plans for the new facilities include an emergency department, outpatient surgery center, a cancer center, diagnostic services including breast imaging, and medical office building space.
