GALVESTON, Texas–Coastal Community Federal Credit Union shared its excitement about becoming a steward for the Little Free Library on behalf of their neighbors and their community.
The Galveston Daily News donated the newspaper stands, and the Little Free Library (LFL) is owned by everyone. According to the Cornerstone CU League, which first reported the news, it works is simple:
- Coastal Community initially stocks the LFL with a variety of quality books that will interest the community.
- Members and the public stop by and take whatever catches their fancy.
- Those who took a book return it and, whenever possible, bring books to contribute.
The Cornerstone league quoted Coastal Community CEO Carol Gaylord as saying the theory is that people support what they create, so the key is to create as many opportunities as possible for people of all ages and backgrounds to feel a sense of ownership.
The Coastal Community LFL is located at 2302 Church Street, Galveston Island, and is open 24/7.
