MANCHESTER, U.K.–The Co-operative College here has entered into a strategic collaboration with the International Credit Union Leadership Development & Education Foundation around a series of initiatives.
The ICULD&E Foundation oversees the Edward Filene Credit Union Awards for Performance Excellence in Great Britain and Ireland as well as the Joe Biden Credit Union Awards for Development Educator of the Year, which recognizes work done by CU leaders around the world. The Co-operative College was established in 1919 by the co-operative movement with a core aim of expanding education and support of cooperative enterprises. It includes the Rochdale Pioneers Museum, where the Rochdale Cooperative Principles were originally created.
The first collaborative activity is a co-operative week of activities (Nov. 23rd, 25th-28th) celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Co-operative College in Manchester and kicking off with the ninth celebration of the U.K.’s Credit Union “Oscars,” the Filene and Biden Awards dinner on Saturday Nov. 23rd.
On Nov. 26-28 The Centenary Conference will take place at the Rochdale Town Hall, including an opportunity to visit the Rochdale Pioneers Museum housed in the original Co-operative Store in Toad Lane, Rochdale.
“National and international leaders from all types of credit unions, co-operatives and mutuals shouldn't miss this opportunity to explore leadership challenges faced by the international movement and to learn from each other,” the organizations said.
