Anyone who runs one of the Six Abbott World Marathon Majors is on their “Six Star Journey,” with the ultimate goal to run all six and earn the Six Star Medal, according to the Cooperative Credit Union Association, which first reported the feat.

Journey Began in 2018

According to the CCUA, Mackie started her journey in 2018 with the successful running of the Boston Marathon. She went on to run the New York Marathon, Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, before arriving at her final stop, Tokyo.

“Coming into this year’s Tokyo Marathon, only 8,143 runners in the world had completed all six marathons and earned the rank of Six Star Finisher,” the CCUA reported. “The completion of the 2023 Tokyo Marathon welcomed 3,033 new Six Star Finishers as well as setting a Guinness World Record of ‘most people to earn a Six Star Medal at a single marathon.’”

One of a Few

The CCUA said Mackie’s successful Six Star around the world puts her in the ranks of only 11,176 runners in the world to have completed all six Abbott World Marathon Majors.
