CINCINNATI–Cinfed Credit Union here said it has been approved to expand its community charter to markets that would essentially double its potential membership to 2.2 million from 1.1 million. It has also completed a small merger.
The $423-million Cinfed has been approved to serve five counties in southwestern Ohio, eight counties in northern Kentucky, and three counties in southeastern Indiana.
“The expansion of our community charter has been in the works for nearly a year,” said Jay Sigler, CEO of Cinfed, in a statement on the CU’s website. “It’s been a carefully considered, strategic process and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to offer our services to many newly eligible individuals.”
In addition, Cinfed has also completed a merger with the former Reading FCU, which had 600 members. CCU now serves more than 35,000 members.
“Since we’re owned by our members, our focus is always to serve their best interests,” said Sigler. “Though we’ve expanded our footprint, we’ll continue our commitment to personal service and support for our local communities. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve established with our 35,000 members and invite all newly eligible residents to visit a branch location or our website to experience it for themselves.”
