WATERFORD, Conn. – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union said it will award $100,000 in 100 days to 501(c)(3) charities via its new Matching Gifts Program.
In making the announcement, COFCU said that philanthropy is an important focus and it will be offering its members the opportunity to maximize their giving power. Donations of up to $100 per member will be doubled through Nov. 23.
Earlier this year Charter Oak hosted an information session at its headquarters to generate some momentum for its Matching Gifts Program. More than 30 local non-profits were represented at the session.
The credit union has made a toolkit available for local non-profits, and can be used to promote the Matching Gifts Program.
“Our new program is generating a lot of excitement throughout the non-profit community,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s president and CEO. “Many of the local non-profits have already begun promoting the program to their donors.”
Charter Oak said its Matching Gifts Program casts a wider net than most matching gifts programs traditionally geared towards employees. Members can request to have their donation matched by completing the Matching Gifts Request form, located on Charter Oak’s website.
