Cardtronics Expands And Extends ATM Agreement With Walgreens

HOUSTON–Cardtronics is reporting it has extended and expanded its long-term ATM services agreement with Walgreens.

Cardtronics currently owns and operates approximately 6,700 ATMs nationwide in Walgreens and Duane Reade drugstores. Since establishing the relationship with Walgreens in 2004, Cardtronics said it has grown its ATM presence in Walgreens drugstores from fewer than 400 ATMs initially to the current fleet size, which under the terms of the expanded agreement is scheduled to increase.
Meanwhile, Citibank has signed a new ATM branding agreement with Cardtronics that will result in broad market reach as well as surcharge-free ATM access for Citibank customers at approximately 1,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade drugstores in key markets, including the New York City and Chicago metropolitan areas, the company reported.

Going forward, the Citibank-Cardtronics ATM branding relationship, established in 2007, will also cover an additional portfolio of more than 900 retail ATMs placed in other pharmacy, mass merchandiser, and wholesale club store locations in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, Cardtronics said. Additionally, Citibank cardholders will also have surcharge-free ATM access, powered by the Allpoint Network, at more than 30,000 ATMs located at many of the same retailers.
