Camera Captures Pic of Alleged Thief in Skimming Case; GPS Device Leads to Another Arrest

NEWCASTLE, Okla.–Police are on the lookout for one man who is suspected of using a skimmer to steal money from CU members, while another man has been

arrested after a GPS device helped police find the alleged robber.

In Oklahoma, security cameras at an ATM have captured an image of a man allegedly part of a card skimming or “cloning” operation who managed to take funds from the accounts of six members.

Newcastle police have released an image of the suspect, shown at right, after surveillance cameras showed him withdrawing money from a Focus Federal Credit Union ATM several times. 

The thief or thieves are suspected of stealing credit or debit card numbers from gas pumps or checkout areas at stores.

In this case, Newcastle Police Detective Sgt. K.O. Morrissey said the numbers were lifted from businesses near Highway 9 and Classen in Norman, Okla.

More than $1,000 was removed from the accounts of the six victims.

GPS Device Leads to Arrest

Separately, in Cincinnati, a man suspected of robbing Greater Cincinnati Credit Union has been arrested. A judge set bond at $150,000 for Ravea Barron.

Police allege Barron passed a note to a teller at GCCU. Once he got the money he ran off with a GPS tracker in with the cash.

Police tracked him down to a nearby apartment building, where he wasn't allowed to be, and said they found him with the money from the robbery and he allegedly admitted to the crime.
