ONTARIO, Calif.–The California and Nevada Leagues have named the winners of their League Awards. The awards will be presented during the REACH 2022 event in Palm Desert.
The winners include:
Leo Shapiro Lifetime Achievement Award
The leagues’ highest honor, which recognizes excellence in credit union philosophy and a lifetime of contributions to the California/Nevada credit union movements, has been awarded to Jeff Napper, president and CEO of LBS Financial Credit Union.
Distinguished Service Award
The award recognizes California and Nevada credit union professionals’ ongoing and current contributions to the credit union community. The winners include Teresa Campbell, president and CEO of San Diego County CU, and Erin Mendez, president and CEO of Patelco CU.
Social Impact Award (individual)
This new award category recognizes individuals and credit unions that demonstrate an unyielding dedication to building stronger communities and improving members’ lives.
The inaugural winners are Elizabeth Carr, president and CEO, Santa Cruz Community CU, and Shaida Samimi, membership development specialist, Patelco Credit Union
Social Impact Award (organization)
The winners include Excite CU, Kinecta FCU
And Silver State Schools CU
J. Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award
This award celebrates significant contributions by people who serve credit unions in volunteer capacities.
The winners include Dr. Leslie Chan, treasurer with Kaiperm CU, and Howard Sherer, chair at Santa Cruz Community CU
Tomorrow’s Star Award
The award recognizes the efforts of up-and-coming credit union leaders aged 35 and under and encourages the development of future leaders. This year’s winner is Alex Becerra, relationship manager, SAFE Credit Union
Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award (individual)
The award recognizes and honors individuals, credit unions, and other organizations’ contributions to the success of Shapiro credit unions.
The winner is Karen Introcaso, president and CEO with Kaiperm FCU
